McCormick Tribune Plaza & Ice Rink

Designed by OWP&P Architects (now Cannon Design), McCormick Tribune Plaza plays a dual role within the Park’s borders.

During the winter season, the space becomes one of Chicago’s largest outdoor ice skating rinks drawing more than 100,000 skaters annually and is free (not inclusive of skate rental) and open to the public, weather permitting. During the summer season, the Ice Rink is converted into one of Chicago’s largest outdoor dining venues adjacent to Park Grill on Michigan Avenue between Washington and Madison Streets.

The design and construction of the Plaza and Ice Rink were completely underwritten by the Millennium Park Foundation using funds from private donors.
