East Garden at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion

Designer: Austin Eischeid Garden Design

Installation: Christy Webber Landscapes

Maintenance: Vivant Gardening Services

The smallest garden in Millennium Park at only 500 square feet, the East Garden represents the beginning of the Foundation’s efforts to enhance the artistry the Park’s gardens as the first such redesigned space. Planned as a demonstration of the potential for naturalistic landscape design using a majority of Midwestern native plants (53%) in a high-intensity, high-use public space, the East Garden not only achieved its initial objective but has continued to develop as a highlight of the “new” gardens throughout the Park.
